Dr. Maddy Rao
Dr. Maddy Rao grew up in Lee's Summit, Missouri, and has had a lifelong love for animals, never imagining a career that doesn't involve them. This passion pushed her to earn a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Kansas State University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University as of May 2024.
Described as enthusiastic and empathetic by her peers, Dr. Rao is committed to providing compassionate care to all her patients. Looking for a way to decompress from veterinary school, she spent many hours volunteering at her local city animal shelter eventually implementing a behavior program aimed at increasing adoption rates and decreasing return rates. Dr. Rao is fear-free certified in animal handling, hoping to make the clinic as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Her love for animals extends beyond dogs and cats, enjoying opportunities to work with exotics and wildlife.
At home, Dr. Rao is the proud owner of three rescue dogs (Butters, Cricket, and Juniper), which is a fitting testament, having been voted most likely to adopt every surrendered dog and cat by her veterinary school class. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys thrift shopping, making jewelry, crafting, singing, and spending time with her fiancé Colby.
