Dr. Lauren Schafer
Dr. Lauren Schafer grew up outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin where her love of animals developed through playing with her family pets, caring for her backyard chickens, and riding horses. Her passion for veterinary medicine started early on as she practiced her bandaging techniques on stuffed animals and often played veterinary computer games after school.
After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Dr. Schafer attended the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine (Go Badgers!). Science graduation in 2017, she has moved from Wisconsin to New Mexico and then Alaska as her husband finished his PhD. She is happy to have now settled in Washington.
Dr. Schafer loves dermatology, internal medicine, and the chance to discuss complex medical issues while developing a clear treatment plan with her patient’s families. Additionally, Dr. Schafer values the roll preventative medicine plays in not just increasing lifespan, but how it contributes to the quality of those years.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Schafer loves to spend time with her husband (Phil) and dog (Jackson). Most often, they are hiking and camping in the summer or enjoying cross country skiing and snowboarding in the winter.
