Licensed Veterinary Technician:

 This position is full time and requires Saturday work. A valid WA Veterinary Technician License is required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Addressing client concerns and answering them appropriately during visits, updates, or after hospitalization; provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values; administer injections, IV or SQ fluid therapy; intubation and extubation and how to appropriately monitor post-operative patients; performing all in-house laboratory diagnostics and submitting out-house laboratory samples; calculate basic medical math; understand classification of commonly-used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response; using PM software to maintain client and patient records; administering medications via appropriate routes and duration; preparing medications and patient for discharge, and communicating discharge instructions to client; assistance as needed or instructed with patient care, cleanliness, and restraint.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of clinical experience.

Knowledge of Avimark is a plus. The candidate will be familiar with pet behavior, fear-free techniques, be self-motivated, enthusiastic, compassionate, detail-oriented and possess excellent communication skills-- both verbal and written. You will use your communication skills, problem solving skills, and ability to multitask in a busy environment to respond quickly and calmly during stressful situations.

Veterinary Technician Assistant:

 This position is Full Time and requires Saturday work.

We are seeking a friendly, upbeat Full Time Veterinary Technician Assistant. This position will be Monday-Friday, including a minimum of 1 Saturday a month, with approximately 8-9 hours worked per day.

The position duties include: client education and communication, pet restraint even if the pet is large or difficult, answering client questions, assisting with patient care and treatments, help maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, perform routine in-house laboratory work, educate clients regarding basic procedures, and assists with any other tasks as needed at Tumwater Veterinary Hospital or assisting the LVTs and DVMs in anyway needed to provide excellent patient and client care. The ability to remain calm and non-opinionated when clients or patients are in a state of distress is a must.

You will be exposed to animals that may be in pain or are ill, zoonoses, bio-hazards such as needles and other medical supplies, cleaning chemicals, blood, feces, urine, vomit, drool and stressful situations such as animal emergencies or euthanasia. This position will require you to be on your feet, moving often from one task to the next, lifting upwards of 50 lbs. with assistance and be able to multitask or dynamically prioritize tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-year experience working in a veterinary hospital, and 1 year of customer service experience, be familiar with pet behavior, restraint,and wellness, be enthusiastic, compassionate, and detail-oriented.  Knowledge of Avimark Veterinary Software is a plus.  This position will utilize your communication skills, problem solving skills, animal handling skills, require punctuality and a positive demeanor.
